Dr. Chaosuan Kanchanomai was born in Bangkok, Thailand. He earned his academic degrees as follows: a B.Eng. degree in Industrial Engineering from Kasetsart University, Thailand, in 1991; an M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, CA, in 1995; and a D.Eng. in Materials Science from Nagaoka University of Technology, Japan, in 2002. Dr. Kanchanomai has been associated with Thammasat University since 1991, and currently serves as a professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering.

His research interests encompass a wide array of failure behaviors, including low cycle fatigue, high cycle fatigue, fatigue crack growth, fretting fatigue, creep crack growth, fracture mechanics, and wear, across a diverse range of engineering materials such as solders, metal injection molded alloys, polymers and their composites, and heat-treated alloys. Additionally, he conducts research on the behavior of engineering components, with a focus on biomechanics related to implants, pipelines, rail systems, power plants, and pressure vessels.
